HONORING Kristen Henry upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2017 Scholarship
Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kristen Henry upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 19th
Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at
Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and

WHEREAS, Valedictorian of her senior class at Cornwall Central High
School, Kristen Henry is a star and the captain of the school's
championship varsity volleyball team; she also runs varsity indoor and
outdoor track and cross country; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed young woman gives tirelessly of her time and
energies to several local organizations; she has been particularly
active as a volunteer and youth-group leader for the Bethlehem
Presbyterian Church in New Windsor; and

WHEREAS, Kristen Henry is the proud recipient of West Point's Dwight
D. Eisenhower Leadership Award and a Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science
Award; she hopes to attend Johns Hopkins University to major in
biochemical engineering; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Kristen Henry has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and

WHEREAS, Kristen Henry, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of
excellence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kristen Henry upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future
of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kristen Henry.
