COMMEMORATING the 20th Anniversary of Association
Des Ouanaminthais on December 30, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and Nation to pay just
tribute to those bedrock institutions and transformative organizations
that have substantially contributed to the social, cultural, altruistic
and humanitarian values of their communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Association Des Ouanaminthais,
celebrated at an event on Saturday, December 30th, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Association Des Ouanaminthais is a noble and empowering
organization founded two decades ago by a core group of Haitians who had
emigrated to the United States but still had an unwavering love for
their original homeland of Ouanaminthe, Haiti; and

WHEREAS, Association Des Ouanaminthais was thus formed with a
cardinal mission to serve the good people of Ouanaminthe through a
spectrum of munificent initiatives in critical areas such as health,
education, stewardship and cultural development by exemplifying,
espousing and teaching the values of love, respect, integrity,
solidarity, collaboration and excellence; and

WHEREAS, Association Des Ouanaminthais has been a passionate and
unstinting force for good in the last 20 years, always answering the
call when needed by their loved ones in Haiti; this vital organization
has served as the foundation of growth for the 300,000 people who call
Ouanaminthe home; and

WHEREAS, Association Des Ouanaminthais has demonstrated its depth of
commitment and love of homeland in numerous ways including providing
earthquake relief; organizing health fairs; supporting a public library,
public park, auditorium, garden center, Law School and cultural center;
offering beds at a hospital; establishing a soup kitchen; and providing
for vital necessities such as power, refuse service, street design and
reforestation; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims, outstanding goals and appreciable
accomplishments are brought to our attention it is appropriate to
publicly proclaim and commend those organizations for the edification
and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Association Des Ouanaminthais on
December 30, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Association Des Ouanaminthais.
