HONORING Bryson Nieves upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Scholarship
Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bryson Nieves upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 19th
Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at
Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Warwick Valley High School, Bryson Nieves plans
to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida
to pursue his dream of becoming a naval aviator; and

WHEREAS, Inspired by the power and leadership of the Tuskegee
Airmen, Bryson Nieves is a member of both the Red Tail Youth Flying
Program and the Orange-Ulster BOCES aviation program; he soloed in May
of 2016, and has continued to work toward his private pilot license; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his high school career, Bryson Nieves has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and

WHEREAS, Bryson Nieves, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of
excellence he brings to his family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bryson Nieves upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2017 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future
of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bryson Nieves.
