HONORING the Prout and Robison Families upon the
occasion of their designation for special
recognition by Unity House on February 9, 2018

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, The Prout and Robison Families have given not only of their
time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and
leadership, and consequently have been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the Prout
and Robison Families upon the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by Unity House, to be celebrated at its Annual Gala on
Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1971, Unity House is a Rensselaer
County-based human service agency which provides a wide range of
services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in the community
who are hurting and struggling; they assist those living in poverty,
adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic
violence, and children with developmental delays; and

WHEREAS, A family foundation that has roots in the oldest
pharmaceutical company in the country, the Robison Family Foundation
continues to be one of the most regular and generous charities for the
advancement of health, education, social welfare and the arts in the
Capital Region; and

WHEREAS, The Robison Family Foundation, established in 1980, by the
late Ellis H. and Doris B. Robison, has steadfastly supported local
hospitals, schools, colleges, art centers, youth organizations and
volunteer agencies; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Elissa Robison Prout, the
Robison Family Foundation donated funds to help erect a bronze statue of
Colonel Albert Pawling for a memorial park in his honor at the foot of
Pawling Avenue on the city's east side; and

WHEREAS, The Foundation has also supported such regional
organizations as Northeast Health, the Arts Council of the Capital
Region, Vanderheyden Hall, Albany Academy, Ten Broeck Mansion, Sunnyside
Center, Unity House, Girl Scouts, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Russell
Sage College, Troy Chromatic Concerts, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,
Emma Willard School and St. Peter's Health Partners; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which the Prout and Robison
Families have displayed throughout their lives; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are

brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Prout and Robison Families upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by Unity House On February 9, 2018;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Prout and Robison Families.
