HONORING Doyle L. Marquart upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2016 Lifetime
Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce on January 27, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Doyle L. Marquart upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony on
Friday, January 27, 2017, at Ventosa Vineyards, Geneva, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual
who has demonstrated involvement in the community and in the growth of
Seneca County; and

WHEREAS, Doyle L. Marquart has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Waterloo, New York, Doyle L. Marquart
graduated from Waterloo High School in 1965; and

WHEREAS, Enlisting in the United States Army one month after
graduating, Doyle L. Marquart valiantly served two tours in Vietnam with
the Intelligence Army Security Agency and was awarded the Bronze Star;
and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service, Doyle L.
Marquart went on to earn an Associate's degree from Finger Lakes
Community College as well as a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice
from RIT in 1979; and

WHEREAS, Doyle L. Marquart began his career in law enforcement with
the Seneca County Sheriff's Office in 1970; he became Chief of the
Waterloo Police Department in 1978 and continued in this esteemed
position for 38 years until his recent retirement; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Doyle L. Marquart has served as an Adjunct
Professor at Finger Lakes Community College for more than 25 years; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to his community, Doyle L. Marquart has given
tirelessly of his time and energies to such organizations as the
Waterloo VFW and American Legion, the Celebrate Commemorate Committee,
Seneca County Victim Impact Panel, Substance Abuse Committee and Drug
Quiz Program, the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy, and the New York
State Police Chiefs Association; and

WHEREAS, Doyle L. Marquart is also a member of the Waterloo Fire
Department and Safe Harbors Board of Directors; he is past chair of
Seneca County Stop DWI, Seneca County Traffic Safety Board & Criminal
Justice, as well as a founding member of the North Seneca Ambulance; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Doyle L. Marquart has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Jean, and their
four children, Les, Lee, Lori and Lisa, as well as eight grandchildren,
all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Doyle L. Marquart, that future generations may know and appreciate their
admirable character, their many benevolent deeds, and their respect and
esteem in which they are held by their peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Doyle L. Marquart upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seneca County
Chamber of Commerce on January 27, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Doyle L. Marquart.
