COMMENDING Howard Kroplick upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the
UJA-Federation on March 9, 2018
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Howard Kroplick has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Howard
Kroplick upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the UJA-Federation to be celebrated at a Reception on Friday, March 9,
2018, at the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center, East Hills, New York;
and
WHEREAS, UJA-Federation is recognizing select nonprofit partners for
their excellence in serving vulnerable members of their community; and
WHEREAS, Howard Kroplick, on behalf of Sid Jacobson Jewish Community
Center, is being saluted for its Young Onset Dementia program; and
WHEREAS, Howard Kroplick has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In the early 20th Century, a small group of visionary
philanthropists recognized that turbulent times required a major change
in how Jewish New Yorkers could support the causes they cared most
about; and
WHEREAS, Felix Warburg, a Jewish investment banker and humanitarian,
spearheaded a group of community leaders to launch a federation, a
central organization that would reduce the duplication and competition
among many local Jewish charities, and maximize what they could do
together; and
WHEREAS, On January 10, 1917, the Federation for the Support of
Jewish Philanthropic Societies of New York City was formally chartered
by the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, UJA-Federation identifies and meets the needs of New
Yorkers and Jews everywhere through the power of collective action;
together, they care for people in need, respond to crises close to home
and far away, and shape the future of the Jewish community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Howard Kroplick has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Howard Kroplick has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Howard Kroplick upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the UJA-Federation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Howard Kroplick.
