COMMENDING Sandra Jackson upon the occasion of her
designation as a 2018 SUNY New Paltz School of
Business Hall of Fame inductee as Alumna of the Year

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Sandra Jackson upon the occasion of her designation as a 2018
SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Alumna of the
Year, to be celebrated at an Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, April 18,
2018, at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, New York; and

WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Sandra Jackson has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in her unwavering service to both her community
and profession and consequently has been selected for this most
prestigious honor; and

WHEREAS, Sandra Jackson is a 1986 graduate of the New Paltz School
of Business and a true role model for its students and alumni; shortly
after earning her bachelor's degree in business administration, she
joined Covanta Energy, an international leader in providing sustainable
waste and energy solutions; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her esteemed 20-year career, Sandra Jackson has
risen through the ranks in the human resources department, and
currently, holds the title of Vice President of Diversity and Employee
Engagement; in this capacity, she has continually demonstrated
leadership by overseeing Covanta Energy's employee engagements, mergers
and acquisitions, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development;
and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast commitment to give back to her alma mater,
Sandra Jackson returned to the campus and shared her vast knowledge and
experiences with students at the 2017 Annual Women's Leadership Summit;
and

WHEREAS, Sandra Jackson is also a vital member of the Board of Grace
Smith House, which provides services and shelter to victims of domestic
violence in Dutchess County; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sandra Jackson upon the occasion of her designation as a 2018

SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Alumna of the
Year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sandra Jackson.
