COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Cornell
Cooperative Extension, Schenectady County
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals and organizations that are devoted to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Cornell Cooperative Extension,
Schenectady County, to be celebrated with a formal dinner in October of
2018; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1918, Cornell Cooperative Extension,
Schenectady County (CCE Schenectady), which has historical ties to the
Schenectady County Farm Bureau, has responded to the needs of local
residents with unbiased, research-based information, tools and education
that people have come to depend on and trust; and
WHEREAS, CCE Schenectady is a community-based extension of New
York's land grant university, Cornell University, and exists through the
cooperation of three partners: county, state and federal governments;
and
WHEREAS, CCE Schenectady's programs are developed in direct response
to community input, and are based on the most current information
available from Cornell and other Land Grant universities from across the
nation; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, CCE Schenectady enables
people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that
put experience and research knowledge to work; its staff and trained
volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and
encourage community collaborations; and
WHEREAS, CCE Schenectady's educators connect people with the
information they need on topics such as commercial and consumer
agriculture; nutrition and health; youth and families; and sustainable
natural resources; and
WHEREAS, CCE Schenectady's ability to match university resources
with community needs helps them play a vital role in the lives of
individuals, families, businesses, and communities throughout
Schenectady County; and
WHEREAS, The success of CCE Schenectady is in direct correlation to
the efforts of its staff and volunteers, including members of the board
of directors, 4H club leaders, Master Gardeners and Master
Composter/Recyclers, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Cornell Cooperative Extension,
Schenectady County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cornell Cooperative Extension, Schenectady County.
