MOURNING the death of Randy W. Palmisano, and
commemorating the dedication of the town Zamboni to
his memory on March 22, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Randy W. Palmisano of Cheektowaga, New York, died on
February 2, 2017, at the age of 53; and
WHEREAS, Born on June 1, 1963, Randy W. "Rand" Palmisano was a
dedicated employee of the Town of Cheektowaga for more than 30 years,
working tirelessly and joyfully for the Facilities, Parks, Building &
Grounds Department; and
WHEREAS, Randy W. Palmisano distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, A former high school hockey player, Randy W. Palmisano's
favorite part of his job was working on the town's Zamboni; he was in
charge of all maintenance and repairs for the machine, and was known for
coming in to work on his off days when needed; and
WHEREAS, On March 22, 2018, family members, friends and town
officials gathered at the Kenneth J. Meyers Recreation Center to
dedicate the town Zamboni, now known as the Rand-Zoni, to his memory;
along with the dedication, the Palmisano family donated Randy's hockey
pads to the town and they now hang in the lobby of the Recreation
Center; and
WHEREAS, Randy W. Palmisano's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his everyday duties, Randy W. Palmisano was
a leader in the Town of Cheektowaga Employees Association; prior to his
death, this esteemed man was elected to the Executive Board; and
WHEREAS, Randy W. Palmisano is survived by his brother and
sister-in-law, Mark and Mary Palmisano; his sister and brother-in-law
Janis and Gary Czosek; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members
and friends; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Randy W. Palmisano leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Randy W. Palmisano, and commemorate the dedication of
the town Zamboni to his memory on March 22, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Randy W. Palmisano.
