CONGRATULATING the University at Buffalo Women's
Basketball Team and Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack
upon the occasion of breaking multiple team records
during their stellar performance in the 2017-2018
season

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in collegiate sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the citizens of this great Empire
State; and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the University at Buffalo Women's Basketball Team and Head
Coach Felisha Legette-Jack upon the occasion of breaking multiple team
records during their stellar performance in the 2017-2018 season; and

WHEREAS, The University at Buffalo Women's Basketball Team broke
multiple tournament records and was the third Mid-American Conference
school to reach the Sweet Sixteen; the Bulls won their second round game
by a largest margin of any 11th seeded team; and

WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of blue and white,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Bulls throughout their journey as they ended their season
with an impressive 29-6 overall record, 21 of which were won by double
digits; and

WHEREAS, After their incredible season, seven members of the
University at Buffalo Women's Basketball Team were selected to the
Academic All-MAC Team, which consists of student-athletes who have
excelled in both athletics and academics by earning at least a 3.20
cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for
that particular sport; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as basketball, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack worked hard
to hone the skills of this championship team, teaching these outstanding
athletes lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the court;
and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack and all of the outstanding
athletes on the University at Buffalo Women's Basketball Team have
clearly utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a
lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of
their school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the University at Buffalo Women's Basketball
Team: Summer Hemphill, Stephanie Reid, Liisa Ups, Hanna Hall, Katherine
Ups, Theresa Onwuka, Courtney Wilkins, Autumn Jones, Mariah Suchan,
Ayoleka Sodade, Cierra Dillard, Marissa Hamilton, Cassie Oursler, and
Brittany Morrison; and Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack upon the occasion
of breaking multiple team records during their stellar performance in
the 2017-2018 season; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the University at Buffalo Women's
Basketball Team, and Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack.
