MOURNING the death of Daniel D. Boone,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Daniel D. Boone, noting the
significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Daniel D. Boone of Granville, New York, whose life was
defined by his unique dedication to community service and love for
family, died on Monday, April 2, 2018, at the age of 75; and

WHEREAS, Born on August 31, 1942, in Granville, New York, Daniel D.
Boone was the son of the late Daniel Kenneth Boone and Helen Beattie
Boone of Wells, Vermont; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from Granville High School in 1960, Daniel
D. Boone attended the University of Vermont, where he was a member of
the Lambda Iota Society fraternity, and earned both his bachelor's and
master's degrees; and

WHEREAS, Daniel D. Boone began his teaching career at the West
Rutland School District before taking a position with Argyle Central
School in 1969, as a history teacher; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious tenure, he led the Canadian
Studies, Humanities and Student Government programs and mentored
students to be active and engaged participants in the political process;
he was also an adviser to several classes, coached the ski team and
regularly organized student trips; and

WHEREAS, In addition, he served as an adjunct professor, teaching
evening classes at Adirondack Community College; and

WHEREAS, Upon his retirement after 37 years of dedicated service to
his students, Daniel D. Boone was elected as Town Assessor for the Town
of Granville, a position he continued to hold at the time of his death;
and

WHEREAS, Daniel D. Boone and his loving wife, Cynthia (Cindy)
Hammond Boone, were united in marriage on November 21, 1969, at the
Middle Granville Presbyterian Church and celebrated 48 wonderful years
together; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Daniel D. Boone was a proud union activist in New York State
United Teachers (NYSUT); he also served the Rails to Trails Conservancy,
Washington County Historical Society and Granville Snowmobile Club; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Daniel D. Boone led an Eagle Scout program,
was an active member of the Free & Accepted Masons, and served several
years as secretary of the Modern Woodman of America, where he was an
active member for 60 years; and


WHEREAS, Daniel D. Boone is survived by his wife, Cynthia; four
children, Tanya (Robert), Daniel James (Brooke), Jeffrey (Hadley) and
Seth (Hayden); four grandchildren, Adam, Carson, Lincoln and Madison;
and a sister, Donah (Conrad); as well as several sisters- and
brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Daniel D. Boone leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Daniel D. Boone, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Daniel D. Boone.
