HONORING Alan Seidman upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 24th Annual Ottaway
Medal by the Orange County Citizens Foundation

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Alan Seidman has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Alan Seidman
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 24th Annual
Ottaway Medal by the Orange County Citizens Foundation, to be celebrated
on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York;
and

WHEREAS, The Orange County Citizens Foundation is a non-profit
organization dedicated to improving the lives of Orange County residents
through public policy and advocacy; and

WHEREAS, The Ottaway Medal is given each year to an individual who
has contributed significantly to improving the quality of life in Orange
County; and

WHEREAS, Alan Seidman truly personifies all that the Ottaway Medal
represents; he is a life-long resident of Cornwall, an exceptional
businessman, and a truly engaged community member; and

WHEREAS, Currently Executive Director of the Construction
Contractors Association, Alan Seidman served as Chair of the Orange
County Legislature for several years, helping to establish a countywide
911 facility and response system and facilitating plans for expanding
SUNY Orange in Newburgh; and

WHEREAS, Serving on the boards of vital, local organizations such as
Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, the Orange County Partnership, Kol
Yisrael, Temple Beth Jacob, and the Highland Engine Company, Alan
Seidman has made a long-lasting impact on the greater Orange County
community; and

WHEREAS, Alan Seidman is steadfastly committed to supporting our
nation's veterans through his service on the board of the National
Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc.; he also organizes a military
appreciation event every three years, where thousands of men and women
in the military are recognized for their service; and

WHEREAS, In addition to being active in his community, Alan Seidman
has utilized his expertise in small business ownership and dedicated his
time to help foster a strong and resilient economy in Orange County; he
was a member of the Cornwall Planning Board for 10 years, and currently
serves as the Chairman of the Foreign Trade Zone Board; and


WHEREAS, The proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Alan
Seidman has been recognized twice by the Boy Scouts of America Hudson
Valley Chapter as a Distinguished Citizen; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Alan Seidman has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Alan Seidman, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alan Seidman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 24th Annual Ottaway Medal by the Orange County Citizens Foundation;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alan Seidman.
