HONORING Liam Collins upon the occasion of his
designation as Club Man of the Year by the Brooklyn
Shamrocks GFC

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Liam Collins upon the occasion of his designation as Club Man of the
Year by the Brooklyn Shamrocks GFC, to be celebrated at its 41st Annual
Dinner Dance on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Bay Ridge Manor, Brooklyn, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Born in Daisy Hill, Newry Ireland, to Leo and Delores, Liam
Collins grew up in Silverbridge, County Armagh and attended the Abbey
grammar school; and

WHEREAS, Liam Collins went on to study geography at Queens
University in Belfast, before earning a masters degree in Geographic
Information Systems from the University of Ulster in Coleraine; and

WHEREAS, In 2011, Liam Collins moved to New York, where he currently
serves as a Senior Project Manager for the city's concrete kingpins
Highbury Construction; and

WHEREAS, Liam Collins joined Brooklyn Shamrocks in 2014, and
instantly became a key member of the team; his first season ended in an
exciting Championship semi-final defeat to Longford, and he featured
heavily in the club's triumphant and historic march to the New York
Junior A Championship in 2015; and

WHEREAS, An avid runner, Liam Collins has competed in several
marathons and has raised funds for such worthy causes as Concern and the
Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his parents, with him throughout have been
his two sisters, Dara and Kellie, who have shown him love and support
and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Liam Collins upon the occasion of his designation as Club Man of
the Year by the Brooklyn Shamrocks GFC; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Liam Collins.
