CONGRATULATING Brianna Lindo upon the occasion of
being selected as the Girls New York State Youth
Track and Field Athlete of the Year by USATF New
York

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its
young citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and
accomplishments exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Brianna Lindo upon the occasion being selected as the Girls
New York State Youth Track and Field Athlete of the Year by USATF New
York; and

WHEREAS, At the young age of seven, Brianna Lindo joined the New
York Novas Track Club; just one year later, she won the 2015 USATF Cross
Country National Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico; during the
2000m race, she easily beat her closest opponent by 27 seconds; and

WHEREAS, Brianna Lindo excels at numerous events, holding the indoor
facility record in both the 600m run and high jump at the Ocean Breeze
Sports Complex; and

WHEREAS, In 2017, Brianna Lindo captured the AAU and USATF Cross
Country National titles, and was instrumental in helping the 9-10
year-old team win the title in North Carolina; her most recent
accomplishment was winning the Colgate Games 400m Championship in
February of 2018; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional athlete and team leader has been
recognized as the New York Athlete of the Month on many occasions, but
is most proud or her relay participation and team honors such as
association records in the 9-10 and 11-12 year-old divisions 4x100,
4x200, 4x400 races; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her teammates, Brianna Lindo
has brought honor to her family, club and community; and

WHEREAS, Brianna Lindo may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences in her
future; and

WHEREAS, Brianna Lindo's hard work and determination represents the
potential inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; this
Legislative Body is pleased to honor this young woman, recognizing her
achievements and the promise of his future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Brianna Lindo upon the occasion of being selected as the
Girls New York State Youth Track and Field Athlete of the Year by USATF
New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brianna Lindo.
