COMMENDING Newburgh Tabernacle of Seventh-Day
Adventist Church upon the occasion of celebrating
its 70th Anniversary on May 18-20, 2018
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commending Newburgh
Tabernacle of Seventh-Day Adventist Church upon the occasion of its 70th
Anniversary to be celebrated with events throughout the weekend of May
18-20, 2018; and
WHEREAS, On Friday, May 18, 2018, the 70th Anniversary celebration
will begin with guest speaker, Pastor Neville Lendor, followed by a
Divine Service led by Pastor Ron Smith and a concert on Saturday, May
19, 2018; the festivities will culminate with an eloquent 70th
Celebration Banquet on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Anthony's Pier 9 in New
Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 70 years, Newburgh Tabernacle of Seventh-Day
Adventist Church has made an indelible impact on the Newburgh, New York,
community; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Pastor David Cuke,
Newburgh Tabernacle of Seventh-Day Adventist Church stands on the
threshold of tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming
decades while retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes its
past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Newburgh Tabernacle of Seventh-Day Adventist Church upon the
occasion of celebrating its 70th Anniversary, fully confident that this
commemoration reflects the belief in those values which enhance the
dignity and purpose of life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to David Cuke, Pastor, Newburgh Tabernacle of Seventh-Day
Adventist Church.
