COMMENDING The Hope Program upon the occasion of
hosting its 7th Annual Taste of Hope on May 15, 2018

WHEREAS, Organizations which serve the interests of the people of
this Empire State merit the commendation of this Legislative Body; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The Hope
Program upon the occasion of hosting its 7th Annual Taste of Hope on May
15, 2018; and

WHEREAS, The Hope Program empowers New Yorkers to build sustainable
futures through comprehensive training, jobs, advancement and lifelong
career support; and

WHEREAS, This members of this vital program work together to solve
problems and provide the highest quality services to their students and
graduates; in their classrooms, they create a learning environment to
teach the skills needed in the modern workforce; and

WHEREAS, In addition, they use the evidence-based practice of
Motivational Interviewing, proven in clinical and criminal justice
settings to drive positive behavior change through exploring
ambivalence, goal-setting, and empowering students and graduates to
transform their own lives; and

WHEREAS, They also help their students build more sustainable lives
and communities by training them for stable jobs with room for
advancement, and increase the health and sustainability of NYC through
green jobs training and environmental initiatives; and

WHEREAS, The Annual Taste of HOPE event helps to raise critical
funding to support The Hope Program's award winning workforce
development programming; this significant program helps 450 New Yorkers
each year develop the skills and confidence needed to secure employment;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
programs and individuals who enhance the well-being and vitality of
their community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to
excellence certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Hope Program upon the occasion of hosting its 7th Annual
Taste of Hope on May 15, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Hope Program.
