Senate Resolution No. 5141

COMMENDING outgoing President Stefano Lentile upon
the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Xaverian High School Key Club on
May 1, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
outgoing President Stefano Lentile upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by the Xaverian High School Key Club; this
auspicious occasion was celebrated at an Installation Ceremony on
Tuesday, May 1, 2018; and

WHEREAS, A junior at Xaverian High School in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn,
Stefano Lentile is a very active and vital part of his school community;
and

WHEREAS, Not only has he served as President of the school's Key
Club, he also founded this vital service organization; under his
luminous leadership, the Club has increased its membership tenfold,
restored and maintained Barkaloo Cemetery, adopted a platoon in
Afghanistan, and raised significant funds for both international and
local charities such as Frankie's Mission, Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma
Center and the Breast Cancer Society; and

WHEREAS, Stefano Lentile is also a member of Xaverian High School's
Speech and Debate Club; he has participated in numerous statewide
championships, and was invited to speak on behalf of the environmental
committee in a mock session of Model UN in Berlin, Germany; and

WHEREAS, Recently, Stefano Lentile competed in the National
Congressional Art Competition in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to recognize and pay tribute to outgoing President Stefano Lentile;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend outgoing President Stefano Lentile upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Xaverian High School Key Club
on May 1, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to outgoing President Stefano Lentile.
