HONORING Elizabeth J. Washburn upon the occasion
of her designation as recipient of the 2018 Senior
Citizen of the Year Award by the St. Lawrence County
Office for the Aging

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Elizabeth J.
"Liz" Washburn upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2018 Senior Citizen of the Year Award by the St. Lawrence County Office
for the Aging; and

WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, she has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent
leadership in her unwavering service to her community and, consequently,
has been selected for this most prestigious honor; and

WHEREAS, Liz Washburn has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Liz Washburn, a resident of Macomb, New York, embodies the
principles and ideals that make us proud to be Americans and has been an
active volunteer for many years; and

WHEREAS, She has actively participated in her local community,
volunteering at her local church, and preparing weekly lunches and
dinners for others; and

WHEREAS, This remarkable individual is also active in her local
senior club, organizing an annual mystery sale, as well as visiting
elderly residents in her community on a daily basis and bringing them to
medical appointments; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Liz Washburn has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Elizabeth J. Washburn upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2018 Senior Citizen of the Year Award by the St.
Lawrence County Office for the Aging; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Elizabeth J. Washburn.
