COMMENDING The Reverend Deacon Michael S. Gudaitis
for special recognition after 10 years of dedicated
service to the members of his Parishes

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life
in this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the
faithful concern and selfless devotion of those who commit their
energies and purpose to the ministry of others; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The
Reverend Deacon Michael S. Gudaitis for special recognition after 10
years of dedicated service to St. John the Baptist Church and
Transfiguration Parishes to be celebrated with a party held in his honor
on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Franklin Hotel in Rome, New York; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Deacon Michael S. Gudaitis will be honored
during Mass, followed by a reception on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at St.
John the Baptist Church in Rome; and

WHEREAS, Michael S. Gudaitis was ordained a Deacon by Auxiliary
Bishop Thomas Costello on May 17, 2008, and shortly thereafter, assisted
the Reverend with Mass; the next day, he gave his first homily at
Transfiguration of Our Lord Church in Rome, New York; after being
recommended by Reverend William Gleba, Deacon Michael S. Gudaitis served
as an intern for Reverend Mark Pasik; and

WHEREAS, Deacon Michael S. Gudaitis currently serves as Deacon of
the linked parishes of Transfiguration and St. John the Baptist Church;
in this capacity he is involved in numerous parish activities including
Life Teen High School Youth Ministry; Monday Night Novena to St. Jude,
St. Peregrine, and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal; Nocturnal
Adoration Society, Eucharistic Adoration; and Catholic Daughters of
America; and

WHEREAS, Originally from Connecticut, Michael S. Gudaitis proudly
served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for 22
years before retiring from active duty in 1999; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his work with St. John the Baptist Church
and Transfiguration Parishes, Michael S. Gudaitis works as a senior
scientist for Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome where he develops
advanced military radios; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 37 years, Jean,
and their two children, Edward and Catherine, all of whom have shown him
love and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Deacon Michael S. Gudaitis has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and
professional integrity and dedication; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given
enlightenment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and
has administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and
corporal needs of all; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Reverend Deacon Michael S. Gudaitis for special recognition
after 10 years of dedicated service to the members of his Parishes,
noting his unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service
to God, man, and his community, and extending to him heartfelt best
wishes for a future of continued purposeful success and well-being; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Reverend Deacon Michael S. Gudaitis.
