CONGRATULATING Stella Corona upon the occasion of
celebrating her 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and
recognize those outstanding individuals within our midst whose lives
have been filled with many remarkable experiences and shared with many
individuals who love and respect them; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Stella Corona upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th
Birthday; and

WHEREAS, Born Stella Migliore on April 28, 1918, in Brooklyn, New
York, to her proud parents, Victoria Celle and Giovanni Migliore, she
was raised in Brooklyn with her siblings, Angelina and Nettie, and
graduated from 8th grade at Public School 216 Arturo Toscanini; Stella
later went on to become a seamstress on 5th Avenue in New York City; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman married the love of her life, John
Corona, in Brooklyn in 1936, and together the couple raised three
wonderful children, Catherine Anne, John Robert, and Joseph Anthony; and

WHEREAS, Stella and John Corona eventually moved to Syracuse, New
York, and Stella took a job with the popular Learbury clothing store;
and

WHEREAS, As a wife, mother and community member, Stella Corona lived
and continues to live her life with a deep concern for family values and
a commitment to hard work and diligence; she has passed these values
onto her loved ones and friends; and

WHEREAS, In 2001, John Corona passed away, but Stella continued to
live in their Syracuse home for several years until moving to the
Greenpoint Assisted Living Facility; and

WHEREAS, In her personal time, Stella Corona still enjoys crocheting
hats and playing cards with her friends and of course spending time with
her family either in person or over the phone; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and
awesome achievements of this country during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Stella Corona upon the occasion of celebrating her 100th
Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of the Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Stella Corona.
