HONORING Jane L. Bahnsen upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Housing and
Family Services of Greater New York, Inc. on June
21, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jane L. Bahnsen upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Housing and Family Services of Greater New York, Inc., to
be celebrated at its Annual Carole Jayson Memorial Dinner on Thursday,
June 21, 2018, at Rex Manor, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Jane L. Bahnsen graduated from John Jay High School before
earning both a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Health and
Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University; and
WHEREAS, In 1979, Jane L. Bahnsen began her illustrious 44-year
career with the Department of Education at Ditmas I.S. 62, where she has
taught General Science and the Earth Science; for the past several
years, she has also served as the Attendance Coordinator, which has
enabled the school to maintain a 95% attendance rate, one of the highest
in the district for a middle school; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this extraordinary woman served as the UFT
member to the School Leadership Team; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Jane L. Bahnsen served as a member of the Board of Directors
of Camp Ma-He-Tu, a Lutheran Girls Camp located in Harriman State Park,
and as a Board Member for the Center for Family Life; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, New York, Jane L. Bahnsen
is an active member of Marien Heim Towers, Marien Heim of Sunset Park &
Marien Heim of Brooklyn, as well as St. John-St. Matthew-Emanuel
Lutheran Church, where she served on the Church Council; and
WHEREAS, Jane L. Bahnsen is an inspiration to many people, and her
dedication and commitment to her community has proven her to be the
epitome of true leadership; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity
to express its highest admiration for Jane L. Bahnsen and to wish her
continued success in all of her future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jane L. Bahnsen upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Housing and Family Services of Greater New York, Inc. on
June 21, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jane L. Bahnsen.
