HONORING Paul Bricoccoli upon the occasion of his
induction into the Schenectady City School District
Athletic Hall of Fame on September 17, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Paul Bricoccoli upon the occasion of his induction into the Schenectady
City School District Athletic Hall of Fame, to be celebrated at its 21st
Annual Reunion Dinner on Monday, September 17, 2018, at Glen Sanders
Mansion in Scotia, New York; and

WHEREAS, A 1962 graduate of Linton High School, Paul Bricoccoli
distinguished himself by his many notable achievements in football and
baseball; he was also a coach of various sports for Glens Falls High
School; and

WHEREAS, In 1960, Paul Bricoccoli began his successful run as the
hero of the football team when he scored eight touchdown passes and ran
for five touchdowns under the tutelage of Coach Dick Lalla; and

WHEREAS, The next year, Paul Bricoccoli threw three touchdown passes
in a 27-0 victory over LaSalle Institute, and started on a defensive
unit which was unscored upon against Section II opponents; and

WHEREAS, During both the 1960 and 1961 seasons, Paul Bricoccoli
helped his team finish with an outstanding record of 7-1; he was also
named All-County Quarterback, and was selected to the All-Class "A"
League Football Team, and an honorable mention to the Wigwam Wiseman
Scholastic All-American Football Team; and

WHEREAS, Paul Briococcoli also played three years of varsity
baseball under the leadership of Coach Dom Denio; in 1962, he was named
an All-County Baseball Pitcher; and

WHEREAS, After graduating high school, Paul Bricoccoli played
football at the University of Rhode Island (Yankee Conference), where he
was the starting quarterback from 1963-1965; he will always be
remembered for his two touchdown passes in the team's 14-6 upset of
Brown University; and

WHEREAS, From 1973-1999, Paul Bricoccoli served as the Glens Falls
High School Varsity Football Coach; throughout his exceptional coaching
career, Paul finished with a cumulative record of 149-80-3, and captured
eight league championships, three Sectional titles, and the 1993 New
York State Regional Championship; he was also recognized as Coach of the
Year four times; and

WHEREAS, Paul Bricoccoli also successfully coached varsity baseball,
tennis, bowling and girls' track and field with Glens Falls High School;
and

WHEREAS, In addition to being inducted into the Schenectady City
School District Athletic Hall of Fame, Paul Bricoccoli is a member of
both the Glens Falls High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Capital
Region Football Hall of Fame; he was also the recipient of the 2017
Service to Football Award by the Capital District Chapter of the
National Football Foundation; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Paul Bricoccoli
upon the occasion of being inducted into the Schenectady City School
District Athletic Hall of Fame for his extraordinary accomplishments
which were a tribute to his skill, dedication and commitment; now,
therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Paul Bricoccoli upon the occasion of his induction into the
Schenectady City School District Athletic Hall of Fame on September 17,
2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Paul Bricoccoli.
