COMMENDING Healing for the Soul Ministries upon
the occasion of hosting The Safe Summer Gameface
Tournament on June 9, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Healing for the Soul Ministries upon the occasion of hosting The
Safe Summer Gameface Tournament on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the
basketball courts in McLaughlin Park, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Established in 2006, Healing For the Soul Empowerment
Network Inc. (HFS) strives to Restore Broken Lives; this vital
not-for-profit organization diligently works to prepare, equip and
empower individuals to be productive and make a difference; and

WHEREAS, The ministry is headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, with a
Caribbean branch office in Barbados; since its inception, HFS has
reached thousands of lives through radio, the internet and its weekly
television broadcast on Mercy and Truth cable network in Jamaica,
Barbados, Trinidad, Grenada, and Curacao; HFS in partnership with other
agencies and organizations provides services to disaster victims and
have responded to disasters in the United States, Haiti, Dominica,
Jamaica and Grenada; and

WHEREAS, HFS' outreach initiatives, crusades, seminars and prayer
retreats have impacted and transformed lives in many countries through
programs such as Project Change, Embracing Change, Children of Inmates,
Feeding the homeless, Prison Ministry and Center of Excellence; and

WHEREAS, Through HFS, The Safe Summer Gameface Tournament is an
opportunity for people to come together to play basketball as a
community; HFSM and the tournament encourages the youth of Brooklyn to
put their guns down and game up!; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Healing for the Soul Ministries upon the occasion of hosting The
Safe Summer Gameface Tournament on June 9, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Healing for the Soul Ministries.
