CONGRATULATING Madison Stewart upon the occasion
of being named the 2018 All-Bee Softball Player of
the Year

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Madison Stewart upon the occasion of being named the 2018
All-Bee Softball Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, A senior on the Orchard Park Varsity Softball Team, Madison
Stewart has helped lead her team to a New York State Championship in
2015, state runners-up in 2016, sectionals in 2017, and the ECIC
Division 1 title in 2018; and

WHEREAS, Madison Stewart started her softball career as a seventh
grader on the modified team; she moved up to the JV team in eighth
grade, and then to the varsity team the next season; and

WHEREAS, Madison Stewart was an All-Bee selection last year, and is
a two-time All-Western New York honoree; this year, she stepped up her
game and finished the season with a .351 batting average, 20 hits, 20
RBIs, two home runs and a .614 slugging percentage; she also dominated
on the field, with a fielding percentage of .983, with just two errors;
and

WHEREAS, A resourceful and kind young woman, Madison Stewart
organized the softball program's inaugural Suicide Prevention Awareness
Game against Williamsville North High School in early May of 2018; the
event raised more than $760 for the Mental Health Association of Erie
County; and

WHEREAS, After graduating, Madison Stewart plans to play catcher for
the Division I St. Bonaventure University; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to
our attention, they should be recognized by all members of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Madison Stewart upon the occasion of being named the 2018
All-Bee Softball Player of the Year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Madison Stewart.
