CONGRATULATING William Faulkner upon the occasion
of his retirement after more than 37 years of
dedicated service to the New York State Legislature
and the Legislative Messenger Service

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor
individuals who have faithfully served the people and the government of
the State of New York with dedication and conscientious service; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
William Faulkner upon the occasion of his retirement after more than 37
years of dedicated service to the New York State Legislature and the
Legislative Messenger Service to be celebrated at a party held in his
honor on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in Room 711A of the Legislative
Office Building in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Willy or Bill, William Faulkner was
born and raised in Schenectady, New York, where he attended Mohonasen
High School; after graduation, he was employed as a janitor at various
locations; and

WHEREAS, Bill Faulkner began his professional career as a messenger
with the Legislative Messenger Service on January 31, 1980; through the
years, he progressed to the title of Phone Coordinator, a position from
which he will officially retire on February 25, 2017; and

WHEREAS, In his much deserved retirement, William Faulkner plans to
volunteer at a senior center, as well as travel and visit his beloved
family; and

WHEREAS, Bill Faulkner's family is extremely important to him and
helped shape him into the warm, caring person he is today; he has one
sister who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and his father resides in
Charleston, South Carolina; he credits his deceased mother with teaching
him his love of art and acceptance of all differences in people, and his
father for teaching him to laugh and be happy; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Guilderland, New York, Bill Faulkner is an
active member of Christ Lutheran Church and enjoys going out to dinner
and attending sporting events with his friends; and

WHEREAS, Bill Faulkner also takes great pride in his independence,
and likes to spend time in his apartment where he loves to listen to the
music of Tom Jones and Andy Williams, and watches reruns of his favorite
heroine, Linda Carter as Wonder Woman; and

WHEREAS, In his more than 37 years of service with the Legislative
Messenger Service, William Faulkner has come to know many people and to
himself be known as a kindhearted soul who will be dearly missed; and

WHEREAS, William Faulkner, as a member of the Legislative Messenger
Service, embodies the true American spirit, demonstrating personal

determination and significantly contributing to the workings of the New
York State Legislature; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate William Faulkner upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 37 years of dedicated service to the New York State
Legislature and the Legislative Messenger Service, and to wish him well
in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William Faulkner.
