COMMENDING House Chairman Robert Church for his 30
years of dedication and commitment to the
Latham-Colonie Knights of Columbus Council No. 3394
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those individuals who exercise leadership in fraternal
organizations of high purpose and worthy accomplishment, and whose
endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the citizens of the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend House Chairman Robert Church for his 30 years of dedication and
commitment to the Latham-Colonie Knights of Columbus Council No. 3394 to
be celebrated on Sunday, November 27, 2016; upon turning the mantle of
day to day responsibilities over to his successor, Robert Church will
assume the title of House Chairman Emeritus; and
WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus supports four ideals: Charity,
Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism, and is an outstanding charitable
fraternal organization in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Organizations like the Knights of Columbus are needed to
help support the community and the church; it has been a strong pillar
of fraternalism and Christian values in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Robert Church has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to the Knights of Columbus and to countless other civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, On October 10, 1987, Robert Church obtained his first
degree in the Knights of Columbus; he went on to become a Third Degree
Knight the following month; and
WHEREAS, He assumed the responsibilities of various offices within
the Council including Grand Knight of the Council, serving from 1990 to
1992; and
WHEREAS, Upon completion of his tenure as Grand Knight, Robert
Church rose to assume the esteemed position of House Chairman of the
Corporation; in this capacity, he was instrumental in the construction
of a new Council Hall located at 328 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham, New
York; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Knights of Columbus, Robert
Church was a pillar of support to his Parish, Our Lady of the
Assumption; for countless years, he was the primary driving force of the
Council's Annual Campaign to support the efforts of Community Maternity
Services; and
WHEREAS, When called upon a second time to assume the duties of
House Chairman of the Corporation, Robert Church did so willingly; and
WHEREAS, Robert Church's service as House Chairman has been
characterized by his exemplary leadership and has been instrumental in
the continued success of Latham-Colonie Knights of Columbus Council No.
3394; he has accomplished many deeds of charity, unity, fraternity and
patriotism in keeping with the mission of the Knights of Columbus and
has been a strong advocate of its programs and of community awareness;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend House Chairman Robert Church for his 30 years of dedication and
commitment to the Latham-Colonie Knights of Columbus Council No. 3394;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Robert Church, House Chairman Emeritus, Latham-Colonie
Knights of Columbus Council No. 3394.
