COMMEMORATING the 25th Anniversary of the Buffalo
Art Studio
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to individuals and organizations that devote their time and energies to
the cultural enrichment of the Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Buffalo Art Studio; and
WHEREAS, To celebrate this auspicious event, the Buffalo Art Studio
will be hosting four commemorative events from early March until
mid-November; and
WHEREAS, The Buffalo Art Studio is a not-for-profit organization,
which promotes culture by supplying local artists with affordable studio
spaces as well as exposure through exhibitions; and
WHEREAS, Located in the Tri-Main Center on Main Street in Buffalo,
New York, the Buffalo Art Studio began renting studio spaces to local
artists in 1991; currently, the Buffalo Art Studio houses over 30 local
artists; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of its third Executive
Director, Alma Carillo Lopez, the Buffalo Art Studio is focused on
increasing the reach of the organization in the local community; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to their community, the Buffalo Art Studio works
with other local organizations such as Aspire WNY, a group which
represents Western New Yorkers with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Additionally, the Buffalo Art Studio has created a program
called the Project CREATE Education Program which teaches art to over
300 students; and
WHEREAS, Today, the Buffalo Art Studio remains committed to
providing artists with the time and resources to fully explore their
creative potential, and continues to expand public awareness and support
for their artists by creating opportunities for them to share their work
with the community through exhibitions and outreach; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that individuals
and organizations whose commitment has contributed to the entertainment
and cultural enrichment of their community, and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to excellence certainly earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Buffalo Art Studio; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alma Carillo Lopez, Executive Director, Buffalo Art
Studio.
