COMMEMORATING the 13th Anniversary of Resurrection
Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York, on March 12, 2017
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and Nation to pay tribute
to those institutions who have contributed to the ethical and spiritual
values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 13th Anniversary of Resurrection Park Slope, to be
celebrated at a luncheon on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at John Jay High
School in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, A small group of Brooklynites established Resurrection Park
Slope in March of 2004, with the intention of adding neighborhood
congregations to serve the growing and ever-changing population of New
York City's largest borough; and
WHEREAS, Embracing its historic Christian faith, Resurrection Park
Slope is committed to the theological heritage of the Protestant
Reformation as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community, Resurrection Park Slope engages
in ministerial services to aid the neighbors and congregation, such as
meal ministries, children ministries, Safe Families NYC, disaster relief
and Project 20/20, in pursuit of their goal to support Park Slope and
the borough of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Under the spiritual guidance of Lead Pastor, Chris
Hidebrand, Resurrection Park Slope has turned into a purpose driven
church ensuring the well-being of its constituents and all who live in
Park Slope; and
WHEREAS, Resurrection Park Slope stands on the threshold of
tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while
retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the
attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 13th Anniversary of Resurrection Park Slope to be
observed on March 12, 2017, fully confident that this commemoration
reflects the belief in those values which enhance the dignity and
purpose of life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chris Hidebrand, Lead Pastor, Resurrection Park Slope.
