HONORING House of Consignment upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the 2018 Business of
the Year Award by the Unadilla Chamber of Commerce
on April 22, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly recognize those businesses within the State of New York
which have positively influenced their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
House of Consignment upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the 2018 Business of the Year Award by the Unadilla Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its annual dinner on Sunday, April 22,
2018, at the Unadilla First United Methodist Church in Unadilla, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Area native Kirsty Roefs established House of Consignment
in July of 2003; she developed the idea for a consignment shop after
dabbling with antique shows and online sales; she gained a great deal of
knowledge after researching and then writing a how-to manual entitled
Consignment from Home; and
WHEREAS, From its humble beginnings, House of Consignment continues
to grow and flourish; today, 15 years later, the store consists of
three-plus floors of housewares and decor, furniture, shoes and
accessories, a high-end fashion section, and clothing for men, women and
children; each day, the shop processes approximately 700 items daily,
seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, Most of Kirsty Roefs' customers are from the Sidney,
Bainbridge and Unadilla area, but some come from as far away as Oneonta
and the Binghamton area; and
WHEREAS, In the future, Kirsty Roefs plans to expand House of
Consignment's social media presence and to create an online store; and
WHEREAS, Kirsty Roefs will also continue her monthly philanthropic
collection drives for worthy groups such as local homeless women, animal
shelter pets, and cancer patients; and
WHEREAS, The success of House of Consignment is in direct
correlation to the efforts of owner, Kirsty Roefs and her right hand
man, Kevin Moore, whose involvement is, and always has been
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the business and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges House of Consignment's success, recognizes its
contributions to the local and State economies, and extends its highest
commendation to the business and its employees, fully confident that, in
its future, it will enjoy the same sparkling success which has so
characterized its past; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor House of Consignment upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2018 Business of the Year Award by the Unadilla Chamber
of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kirsty Roefs, owner, House of Consignment.
