CONGRATULATING Eric Carson upon the occasion of
capturing the New York State USBC 2018 Pepsi Youth
Championship in the under-15 division

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Eric
Carson upon the occasion of capturing the New York State USBC 2018 Pepsi
Youth Championship in the under-15 division on Saturday, May 19, 2018,
at King Pin Lanes in Rome, New York; and

WHEREAS, A 14 year-old freshman at Oswego High School, Eric Carson
bowled a six-game total of 1,325 to advance to the finals where he was
seeded second; and

WHEREAS, In the final match, Eric Carson soundly defeated the
defending champion by a score of 290-192; with this monumental win, Eric
is qualified to bowl in the Junior Gold Championships in Dallas, Texas
in July of 2018; and

WHEREAS, Eric Carson was loyally and enthusiastically supported by
family, friends, and the community at large as he ended his season with
an impressive overall record; he led the entire varsity league with a
223 average, shot his second career perfect game, and collected five 700
series; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as bowling, which demands athletic prowess,
precision, and adaptability, Eric Carson worked hard throughout the
season to hone his skills; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Eric Carson has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Eric Carson upon the occasion of capturing the New York
State USBC 2018 Pepsi Youth Championship in the under-15 division; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eric Carson.
