COMMEMORATING the 50th Anniversary of the
Engineering Excellence Awards of the American
Council of Engineering Companies of New York & 50
years of Scholarship Awards

WHEREAS, The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York
(ACEC New York) is the voice of New York State's engineering companies;
and

WHEREAS, ACEC New York is a proactive coalition of 280 firms
representing every discipline of engineering related to the built
environment-civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental,
geotechnical-and affiliated companies; and

WHEREAS, For 50 years, the Engineering Excellence Awards program has
recognized those engineering projects which exemplify sustainability,
innovation, environmental impact, and efficiency; and

WHEREAS, Daily life would not be possible without the efforts of
engineers, and it is crucial to recognize these often unsung
accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, The Engineering Excellence Awards highlight the importance
of these exceptional projects, as well as the engineering industry as a
whole, to government officials, the construction industry, and the
general public; and

WHEREAS, The Engineering Excellence Awards recognize projects from
across New York State, impacting the lives of all New Yorkers and
showcasing collaborations with many State and City agencies and
authorities; and

WHEREAS, ACEC New York member firms have been recognized locally,
nationally and internationally for their award-winning designs; and

WHEREAS, The ACEC New York Scholarship Fund, which sponsors the
Awards, has given over $700,000 to benefit hundreds of New York State
engineering students, ensuring a strong future for engineering; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
companies of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate this milestone in the history of the Engineering Excellence
Awards of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York, and
to honor the award winners, past and present, upon the occasion of the
celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the program; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the American Council of Engineering Companies of New
York.
