COMMEMORATING the 50th Anniversary of Community
Action of Greene County, Inc. on May 5, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Community Action of Greene County,
Inc. to be feted at an Anniversary Celebration on Friday, May 5, 2017;
and

WHEREAS, Community Action of Greene County, Inc. is the designated
anti-poverty agency serving all of Greene County; it also assists
Columbia County through its Domestic Violence Program; and

WHEREAS, Through a variety of community service programs and
emergency services aimed at assisting low income and vulnerable
populations achieve self-sufficiency, Community Action of Greene County,
Inc. strives to create opportunities, fight poverty and change lives;
and

WHEREAS, This vital organization diligently works to help
individuals and families become self-sufficient, improve the conditions
in which people live, develop partnerships among supporters and
providers of services, and increase its capacity to achieve results; and

WHEREAS, Community Action of Greene County, Inc. is part of more
than 1,000 local, private non-profit and public agencies which work
together to implement ways to end poverty and empower low-income
families in communities throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Community Action of Greene County, Inc. links
human service resources throughout its service area to provide
leadership and serve the specific needs of each community; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of its community
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Community Action of Greene County,
Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Community Action of Greene County, Inc.
