HONORING the life and legacy of Gregory T. Miller,
distinguished attorney and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those singular individuals who devoted their purposeful lives to
preserving the rights and protecting the welfare of the citizens of
their community and the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Gregory T. Miller, a native of Rochester, New York, died on
Friday, April 28, 2017, at the age of 46; and

WHEREAS, A 1988 graduate of Rush-Henrietta High School, Gregory T.
Miller received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Bowling
Green University of Ohio in 1992; he went on to earn his Juris Doctor
degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law,
where he was elected a member of the Buffalo Law Review, the Moot Court
Board, and President of the Law School's chapter of ATLA; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his esteemed career as an attorney, Gregory T.
Miller worked as a tutor and mentor for secondary school students with
need for one-on-one instruction; and

WHEREAS, A partner in the firm of Roach, Brown, McCarthy and Gruber
since 2006, Gregory T. Miller was engaged in an active trial practice,
with his main area of concentration focused upon the defense of medical
professionals and hospital systems in suits involving claims of medical
malpractice, and in administrative proceedings before the New York State
Department of Health and their Office of Professional Medical Conduct;
and

WHEREAS, In addition, Gregory T. Miller possessed significant
experience in the defense of product liability claims and general
personal injury claims; and

WHEREAS, Gregory T. Miller was admitted to practice in the western
and northern districts of federal court in New York, as well as United
States Bankruptcy Court; throughout his illustrious career, he guided
cases as far as the Court of Appeals; and

WHEREAS, Elected as the Erie County Bar Association's 110th
President in 2016, Gregory T. Miller recently spoke on the importance of
an independent judiciary; and

WHEREAS, Gregory T. Miller was an associate member of the
Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, which admits only one member for
every one million in population for each town, city and municipality
across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico; and

WHEREAS, Based upon courtroom performance and peer evaluation,
Gregory T. Miller was selected among the top 1% of trial counsel for the
defense of medical malpractice claims in New York; he was also selected
as a top medical malpractice defense attorney through the New York

SuperLawyers magazine, and was identified as a "Best Lawyer" by U.S.
News and World Report since 2010; and

WHEREAS, Gregory T. Miller was also active in various activities at
SUNY Buffalo, including as President of the Buffalo School of Law
Chapter of the American Trial Lawyers Association; and

WHEREAS, Renowned throughout the Orchard Park community he called
home for the past 20 years, Gregory T. Miller coached baseball and
basketball at Nativity of Our Lord School, and served as a Little League
and travel baseball coach; and

WHEREAS, Gregory T. Miller is survived by his wife, Angela; a son,
David; his mother, Judith; and two brothers, Theodore and Benjamin; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Gregory T. Miller leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the life and legacy of Gregory T. Miller, distinguished attorney
and devoted member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Gregory T. Miller.
