HONORING Picone Construction Corporation upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the
Large Business of the Year Award by the Clarence
Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing the economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Picone Construction Corporation upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Large Business of the Year Award by the Clarence
Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its 46th Annual Awards Dinner
on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Samuel's Grande Manor, Clarence, New
York; and

WHEREAS, In 1931, Charles Picone made a decision that would carry
into several generations of the Picone family; after emigrating from
Sicily, he worked as a stone mason and ultimately became masonry foreman
for the construction of Buffalo City Hall; and

WHEREAS, Upon its completion, Charles Picone founded the
construction company now known as Picone Construction Corporation; and

WHEREAS, Through the years, the Picone family continued the
construction industry tradition with the addition of Anthony F. Picone
in 1935, Anthony J. in 1965, Judith in 1983, Anthony C. in 1989, and
Christopher in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Today, Picone Construction Corporation is owned and
operated by third and fourth generation family members and continues to
make significant contributions to Clarence and Western New York through
responsibility, integrity, and pride of workmanship; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to its
community, Picone Construction Corporation gives of its time and
energies to such local organizations as the Bank of Akron, Harris Hill
Fire Hall, Greatbatch, DiMar Manufacturing, Sisters of St. Joseph, Shops
at Main and Transit, Uncle Bob's Storage and Petco; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 87 year history, Picone Construction
Corporation has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves, and continues to be recognized for its
quality of work and award-winning construction projects; and

WHEREAS, The success of Picone Construction Corporation is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its employees, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Picone Construction
Corporation; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and businesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Picone Construction Corporation upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Large Business of the Year Award by the
Clarence Chamber of Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Picone Construction Corporation, Clarence, New York.
