COMMEMORATING the 35th Anniversary of Corning
Christian Academy, Corning, New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit
of excellence in education and service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Corning Christian Academy,
Corning, New York; this auspicious milestone will be celebrated with a
dinner and an auction on Friday, April 13, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Corning Christian Academy opened its doors as Christian
Learning Center to 21 kindergarten through third grade students in
September of 1982, and continued to add grade levels until 1989 when it
offered kindergarten through 12th grades; and
WHEREAS, Christian Learning Center became a charter member of the
Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in 1986, and
registered by the New York State Board of Regents in 1991; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Christian Learning Center's Little Lambs preschool
was added, along with its summer Vacation Instruction Program; and
WHEREAS, In 2002, Christian Learning Center changed its name to
Corning Christian Academy, and three years later, the deed to the
Corporal Frank Hayes Army Reserve Center was passed from the US
Department of Education to Corning Christian Academy, its current
location; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, Corning Christian Academy
raises leaders by equipping students of all ages with faith, knowledge,
and wisdom to advance the Kingdom of God through the vocations and
avocations for which they are called; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of its Administrator, Keila
Underwood, Corning Christian Academy has a student body of 148, which
includes the Little Lambs preschool and kindergarten through 12th
grades, and consists of approximately 40 full and part-time employees;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an
educational institution of such noble aims and accomplishments is
brought to our attention, it should be recognized and applauded by all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Corning Christian Academy, Corning,
New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Keila Underwood, Administrator, Corning Christian
Academy.
