COMMENDING Noa Simons upon the occasion of being
inducted into the 2019 SUNY New Paltz School of
Business Hall of Fame as recipient of the Dean's
Award of Excellence

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Noa Simons upon the occasion of being inducted into the 2019
SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame as recipient of the
Dean's Award of Excellence, to be celebrated with an Induction Ceremony
on April 24, 2019, at the Grandview, Poughkeepsie, New York; and

WHEREAS, Noa Simons, an investor and entrepreneur who grew up in the
Hudson Valley, currently serves as Executive Director of the Upstate
Venture Association of New York, a statewide organization based in
Pittsford, with the mission to drive more venture capital and private
equity to upstate New York; and

WHEREAS, Prior to serving in this esteemed capacity, Noa Simons
spent over a decade working in Boston and Shanghai in venture capital
before serving as a partner at TD Growth Capital with a focus on clean
technology; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Noa Simons is a founding member of the Hudson Valley Startup
Fund, a member-managed seed capital fund formed in 2015; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Brandeis University, Noa Simons is also a
co-founder of Community Compost Company, a New Paltz food waste and
organic recycling company; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Noa Simons upon the occasion of being inducted into the 2019
SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame as recipient of the
Dean's Award of Excellence; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Noa Simons.
