MOURNING the tragic and untimely death of Sarah
Alexis Foster, a sixth grade social studies teacher
and volleyball coach from Westchester, New York

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is deeply moved to inscribe upon its
records this remembrance of Sarah Alexis Foster, a young woman whose
kind spirit and zest for life attracted people to her; she had a
magnetic personality, and a smile that would light up any room; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to mourn the
tragic and untimely death of Sarah Alexis Foster of Westchester, New
York, who died on February 15, 2019, at the age of 27; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Alexis Foster was born on November 17, 1991, in New
Haven, Connecticut, to Laurie Stone and Stuart M. Foster; and

WHEREAS, She was a student at Beecher Road School in Woodbridge,
Connecticut, through the 6th grade before attending Hamden Hall Country
Day School, from which she graduated high school in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Alexis Foster earned a bachelor's degree at Union
College in Schenectady, New York, graduating in 2014; thereafter, she
attended Union Graduate College where she earned a master's degree; and

WHEREAS, A teacher, Sarah Alexis Foster loved her work and was
passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students; for
the past four years, she taught 6th grade social studies at Louis M.
Klein Middle School, Harrison Central School District, Harrison, New
York, where she also coached girls volleyball; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Alexis Foster, always full of laughter and happiness,
loved the beach, international travel, history and the excitement of New
York City life; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Audrey and Robert
Foster, Sarah Alexis Foster is survived by her father, Stuart M. Foster;
mother, Laurie Stone and stepfather, Jim Gregory; sister and best
friend, Leah Foster; grandfather, A. Harris "Boey" Stone and his
fiancee, Leslie Cahill; grandmother, Eileen Cowell and her husband, Bud
Cowell; beloved aunt, Tanya Lee Stone; and uncles and aunts, Arnie and
Norene Foster, and Chris and Stefanie Freeman; as well as many cousins,
Rachel Foster and Jake Grabell, Aly and Chris Plourde, Kyle and Emily,
Kris, Samantha and Alana DuFresne, and Liza Stone and Jake Stone; and

WHEREAS, A great person of incredible spirit and enthusiasm, Sarah
Alexis Foster truly brought enduring honor and integrity to her family
and loved ones through her many accomplishments; her memory will remain
in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the tragic and untimely death of Sarah Alexis Foster, and to
express its deepest condolences to her family; and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Sarah Alexis Foster.
