HONORING Joe Mirabito upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Broome County
Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award by the
Baden-Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joe Mirabito upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Broome County Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award by the
Baden-Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America, to be celebrated with an
Award Dinner on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at The McKinley, Endicott, New
York; and

WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Joe Mirabito has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence, and
diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both his community and
profession and consequently has been designated for this most
prestigious honor; and

WHEREAS, President and CEO of Mirabito Energy Products, Joe Mirabito
is the third generation to lead the family business; and

WHEREAS, Joe Mirabito graduated from LeMoyne College with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Business; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Joe Mirabito currently serves as a Board Member of the
Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, a Board Member of The Agency of
Broome County, Director for Corning Natural Gas and an advisory Board
Member of Central NY Region of Community Bank; and

WHEREAS, Joe Mirabito is a past President of the Empire State
Petroleum Association (ESPA), as well as a member of the Petroleum
Marketers Association of America (PMAA) and the National Association of
Convenience Stores (NACS); and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he is past Chairman of the Greater Binghamton
Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Sidney Chamber of Commerce,
past Director of the Sidney Chamber of Commerce, and past Director of
the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Joe Mirabito is the proud recipient of numerous awards and
accolades including the 2010 Carl Tripi Award from NYACS for his
"low-profile, high impact" approach to making a difference in the
convenience store industry; he also received the 2008 LeMoyne College
Frank Fernandez Business Leader of the Year Award; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Binghamton, New York, Joe Mirabito enjoys
spending time with his family, cheering on his children and
grandchildren's sports and activities, attending Binghamton University
basketball games, entertaining at his home for family and friends, and
supporting the Mirabito Family Philanthropy; and

WHEREAS, Joe Mirabito guides his family and business by following
the life advice and leadership of his late father, Tom Mirabito Sr.; he
is truly committed to the continuity of family values, which steers him
in business deliberations and decisions; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Joe Mirabito has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joe Mirabito upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Broome County Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award by the
Baden-Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joe Mirabito.
