HONORING Carole and Ed Grove upon the occasion of
their designation for special recognition by the New
York State Office for the Aging on May 21, 2019

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Carole and
Ed Grove upon the occasion of their designation for special recognition
by the New York State Office for the Aging at its Annual Older New
Yorker's Day Celebration on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Hart Theatre
Lounge in The Egg, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Each May, the New York State Office for the Aging pauses to
acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by older citizens during
National Older Americans Month; and

WHEREAS, Members of older generations have helped build and shape
our Nation to be the greatest in the world; they have defended our
freedoms and values to ensure that those who come after them may have
better lives; nowhere in the Nation is the legacy of their efforts more
visible and more a part of the lives of all citizens than here in the
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Residents of Oneida County, Carole and Ed Grove are
dedicated and treasured members of their community; 38 years ago,
Carole, with the support of Ed, established Your Neighbors, Inc., a
non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality service and
support to people who are frail, elderly or have a disability in their
home setting; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, Carole Grove has served as the Food
Coordinator and has been actively involved with the Board of Directors;
she also takes the time to personally meet with every new client, making
them feel comfortable and welcome; and

WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to the older
consumers of her community, Carole Grove was the recipient of the 2015
Caregiver of the Year Award by the Greater Mohawk Valley Community and
Elder Wellness Council Inc.; and

WHEREAS, From 1991-1997, Ed Grove served on Your Neighbors' Board of
Directors; upon the completion of his term, he continued as a non-board
financial officer for several years; in 2004, he oversaw the receipt of
a substantial Robert Wood Johnson grant, and henceforth, became more
involved with fundraising aspects of the organization; and

WHEREAS, Together, Carole and Ed Grove have organized the Annual
Garage Sale for the last 20 years, and have led the Annual Chicken
Barbecue; in this capacity, Ed raises the necessary funds for chicken

and supplies, and Carole coordinates with volunteers to deliver and
serve meals; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Carole and Ed Grove have
displayed throughout their lives; and

WHEREAS, Carole and Ed Grove, a very active and industrious couple,
have inspired and enriched the lives of those they serve through their
volunteerism, generously sharing the wisdom gained over years of
experiencing life to its fullest; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carole and Ed Grove upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the New York State Office for the Aging on May
21, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Carole and Ed Grove.
