CONGRATULATING Monique Hardy upon the occasion of
capturing two NYSPHSAA Indoor Track and Field
Championships
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Monique Hardy upon the occasion of capturing two NYSPHSAA Indoor Track
and Field Championships at the 2019 New York State Indoor Track and
Field Championships at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on
Staten Island, on Saturday, March 2, 2019; and
WHEREAS, A junior at Webster Thomas High School, Monique Hardy broke
two records while winning two New York State championships; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional athlete defended her title while setting a
state record in the weight throw with an incredible distance of 60 feet,
4 3/4 inches; and
WHEREAS, Monique Hardy also set a Section V record while winning the
shot put, throwing an impressive 42 feet 8 1/2 inches; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she captured Federation championships as her
results surpassed those of her competitors from schools which are not
members of the NYSPHSAA; and
WHEREAS, Coach Matthew Carpenter has done a superb job in guiding,
molding and inspiring Monique Hardy toward her their goals; and
WHEREAS, In light of her recent accomplishments, Monique Hardy has
brought honor and just pride to her school and community on the local,
State and National level; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor and recognize Monique Hardy for her remarkable skill and tenacious
dedication, which helped her capture two NYSPHSAA Indoor Track and Field
Championships; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Monique Hardy and Coach Matthew Carpenter.
