COMMENDING I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D., Incorporated
upon the occasion of hosting its 2nd Annual Gala,
and paying tribute to this year's honorees on May 9,
2019

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations which are committed to enhancing the
quality of education in the State of New York, and which enable our
schools to offer excellent educational programs in the most efficient
manner; and

WHEREAS, Cultural exchange programs between students from New York
State and those from abroad have an educational value which is
immeasurable, and provide the opportunity for experiences which last a
lifetime; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D., Incorporated upon the occasion of hosting
its 2nd Annual Gala, and to pay tribute to this year's honorees on
Thursday, May 9, 2019, at 26 Bridge in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, This year's honorees who have been risen by helping others
include: Inspire Award, Cassandra Nuamah, co-Founder, Kukuwa Fitness and
Africa With Us; Global Influence Award, Omar Hamilton, Founder and CEO,
Ohpsalms; Community Impact Award, Aisha Demosthenes, co-Vice President,
Community Improvement Development, Inc., and Humanitarian Award, Linotte
Joseph, Founder, Mission of Grace; and

WHEREAS, I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. strives to promote self-empowerment
and appreciation for cultural richness and diversity by creating
innovative global leaders of tomorrow to envision a life beyond their
immediate communities, while fulfilling personal and professional goals
toward success; and

WHEREAS, In addition, this vital non-profit organization diligently
works to reduce hate and discrimination by redefining social norms
through cultural immersion, education, and discovery of what it means to
be C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D.; and

WHEREAS, I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. helps students obtain a passport and
provides school/community fundraising and service opportunities, five
empowerment and world travel preparatory workshops, week-long excursion
to another country, small travel groups, mentorship programs, and travel
scholarships, as well as once-in-a-lifetime memories with forever
friends; and

WHEREAS, The success of I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its Founder and Executive Director Karmia
Berry, and her staff, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the institution and the community it serves; and


WHEREAS, I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. truly believes the world is a
classroom, and travel can provide an everlasting impression on how we
perceive ourselves, interact with others and embrace other cultures
including our own; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D., Incorporated upon the occasion of hosting
its 2nd Annual Gala, and to pay tribute to this year's honorees on May
9, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Karmia Berry, Founder/Executive Director, I AM
C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D., Incorporated and the aforementioned honorees.
