COMMENDING the Guyana Economic Development Trust
upon the occasion of hosting Awakening the Jaguar:
The 2019 Guyana Innovation Prize Cocktail Reception
on June 2, 2019

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Guyana
Economic Development Trust upon the occasion of hosting Awakening the
Jaguar: The 2019 Guyana Innovation Prize Cocktail Reception celebrating
Guyanese Entrepreneurship on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at A.R.T./New
York-The LuEster T. Mertz South Oxford Space in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Guyana Innovation Prize is a complete system to support
startup businesses, groom founders, and create new employment
opportunities in Guyana; and

WHEREAS, The Guyana Economic Development Trust is an independent,
United States based philanthropic organization which incubates and
supports projects to expand and enhance enterprises and workforce skills
in Guyana; its projects help fill a gap in functional 21st Century
skills training and seed funding for startup and small businesses; and

WHEREAS, Today, Guyana is on the verge of an economic revolution
that will forever change the country; the Guyana Economic Development
Trust offers a triple bottom line to those supporting its mission:
United States tax deductibility on contributions, the ability to help
equip Guyanese with the skills of the future, and the opportunity to
play a direct role in the economic progression of the nation; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Guyana Economic Development Trust is in
direct correlation to the efforts of Chief Executive Officer Oslene
Carrington and her staff, whose involvement is, and always has been,
characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and
an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of
the institution and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Guyana Economic Development Trust upon the occasion of
hosting Awakening the Jaguar: The 2019 Guyana Innovation Prize Cocktail
Reception on June 2, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Oslene Carrington, Chief Executive Officer, Guyana
Economic Development Trust.
