COMMENDING The Black Institute upon the occasion
of hosting its Justice For All Ball on May 23, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend The Black Institute upon the occasion of hosting its 9th Annual
Justice For All Ball on Thursday, May 23, 2019; and

WHEREAS, The mission of The Black Institute is to shape intellectual
discourse and dialogue, and to impact public policy uniquely from a
Black perspective, a perspective which includes all people of color in
the United States and throughout the Diaspora; and

WHEREAS, The Black Institute translates the "think" in think-tank
into "action" through a rigorous three-level strategy comprising of
academic and community research, inclusive and genuine civic
development, grassroots campaigns, and political engagements;

WHEREAS, Furthermore, The Black Institute will change the discourse
of public debate, train and educate new leadership and develop
initiatives to build wealth, build power and deliver justice to Black
people; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, The Black Institute has
demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities which
it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of The Black Institute is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its board members and staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, and
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to The Black Institute;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Black Institute upon the occasion of hosting its Justice For
All Ball on May 23, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Black Institute.
