COMMENDING The Tribune Society, Inc. upon the
occasion of celebrating its 50th Anniversary on
November 1, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those
enduring organizations which devote their purposeful energies to
improving the quality and dignity of life of those they serve, to
preserving their heritage, and to fostering cultural pride; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The
Tribune Society, Inc. upon the occasion of its 50th Anniversary,
celebrated at its Annual Awards Dinner Dance on Thursday, November 1,
2018, at Marina Del Rey in Bronx, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion is the perfect opportunity to
honor members and individuals, who have excelled in their respective
fields, while making a positive difference as leaders, public servants
and role models for others to emulate; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1968 by a group of peace officers, The Tribune
Society, is a fraternal organization of African Americans and minority
judicial and non-judicial court personnel who work for the New York
State court system; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, The Tribune Society
diligently works to ensure equal opportunity for all who work in or whom
the New York Unified Court System serves by making whatever contribution
its titles allow; and

WHEREAS, For five decades, this vital organization has strived to
develop various formats that will enable minorities in its communities
to better understand how the court system works in relation to their
lives and to ensure the implementation of equal employment hiring
practices within the courts; and

WHEREAS, The success of The Tribune Society is in direct correlation
to the efforts of President Roderick E. Randall, and his staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the
community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Tribune Society, Inc. upon the occasion of celebrating its
50th Anniversary on November 1, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Roderick E. Randall, President, The Tribune Society, Inc.
