HONORING Mollie Drew upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Lenore Bellin
Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mollie Drew upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Lenore Bellin Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center to be celebrated on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at
Congregation Beth Emeth, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious awards ceremony recognizes
individuals for their contributions to the Center and the Jewish
community-at-large by acting as moral pillars and dispensers of wisdom
and advice, providing continued service and leadership, and acting
generously in the spirit of Tzedakah; and

WHEREAS, A senior at Bethlehem Central High School, Mollie Drew has
been involved with the Albany Jewish Community Center (JCC) since
attending its preschool, Camp Olam and Teen Camp; she continued her
Jewish studies at Congregation Beth Emeth Youth Group; and

WHEREAS, With a sincere passion for helping others, Mollie Drew was
accepted for the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Science (ACPHS)
Summer Research Program in the summer of 2018, where she worked in a
cancer research lab alongside medical researchers at the Pharmaceutical
Research Institute in Rensselaer, New York; and

WHEREAS, Mollie Drew also participates in Lab School, a rigorous
program with forward thinking teachers and community based outreach; she
plans to attend SUNY Plattsburgh where she will study nursing; and

WHEREAS, Outside of school, Mollie Drew works at the Delmar Animal
Hospital as a kennel attendant; she is also a lifeguard during the
summer months at Bethlehem Terrace Apartments, and is an intern
shadowing a local doctor in Albany; and

WHEREAS, Mollie Drew has given tirelessly of her time and energies
to countless community organizations, including the Colonie Senior
Service Center and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; she is also a peer
tutor at her high school, helping underclassman in Global History; and

WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Mollie Drew continued success throughout her school years
and beyond; and

WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Mollie Drew represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mollie Drew upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Lenore Bellin Memorial Award by the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish
Community Center; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mollie Drew.
