HONORING Jahn Levin upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Excellence in
Entrepreneurship Award by the University at Albany
Alumni Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jahn Levin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award by the University at Albany Alumni
Association to be celebrated with a Gala on May 4, 2019, at Wolfert's
Roost, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes the accomplishments of an
individual who has demonstrated the spirit, leadership and drive of an
entrepreneur; Jahn Levin is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, While attending the University at Albany (UAlbany), Jahn
Levin leveraged his young entrepreneurial spirit by starting a business
selling graphic T-shirts to students and campus staff; he has maintained
that same spirit for the last 30 years; and

WHEREAS, With a passion for science and an obsession with nutrition,
Jahn Levin founded Purity Products in 1993, after graduating with a
Bachelor of Science degree from UAlbany School of Business; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Jahn Levin, President and CEO,
what began as a three-person operation in Great Neck, New York, has
blossomed into a thriving nutritional and health products company with
over one million customers and employing nearly 200 people; and

WHEREAS, In addition to providing people with great health and
wellness benefits, Jahn Levin raises significant funds for charities in
his community and has been instrumental in helping other UAlbany
students become entrepreneurs; and

WHEREAS, Today, Purity Products is operating in its 26th year out of
the new company headquarters in Plainview, New York; and

WHEREAS, To honor his local community and the UAlbany School of
Business, this extraordinary man established The Jahn Levin '89 Family
Scholarship in 2018; the endowed scholarship supports undergraduates who
are studying business; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to giving back,
Jahn Levin has co-chaired the UJA-Federation of New York Aqua Run Race
Against Poverty for the past six years; the event raises vital funds for

local UJA food pantries, legal services for single moms, low-income
seniors and more; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Jahn Levin and his staff also work with
organizations such as Vitamin Angels Alliance, which aims to eradicate
child blindness caused by Vitamin A deficiency; and

WHEREAS, Admired by those lucky enough to work with him, Jahn Levin
is a truly humble, dedicated, conscientious, inspiring, intuitive and
creative leader with a positive attitude and a great sense of humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Jahn Levin has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jahn Levin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award by the University at Albany
Alumni Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jahn Levin.
