COMMENDING Wesley Parrott Youth Programs, Inc.
upon the occasion of its designation for special
recognition by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.,
Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter on May 11, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Wesley Parrott Youth Programs, Inc. upon the occasion of its
designation for special recognition by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,
Inc., Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter to be celebrated at its 10th Annual A
Mother's Dream Scholarship Gospel Luncheon on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at
Terrace on the Park in Flushing, New York; and

WHEREAS, Staying true to its mission, Wesley Parrott Youth Programs
(WPYP) provides underserved youth with essential and engaging life
skills programs and services which increase their academic and social
achievement, and develops a higher education and a career embracing
culture; and

WHEREAS, This vital non-profit organization was founded in 1988, to
stimulate, motivate and influence youth and orient them toward positive
ideas, goals and achievements to be attained within society as to
improve quality of life within their respective communities; and

WHEREAS, WPYP also provides primary and secondary intervention to
reduce drop-out, improve academic excellence as well as combat
anti-social behavior in targeted youth; and

WHEREAS, To accomplish these goals, WPYP provides individual
guidance, discussion groups, anger management workshops, homework
assistance, recreational activities, inter/intra cultural relations,
conflict resolution, effective communication, positive decision making,
leadership and career exploration; and

WHEREAS, Through the partnerships of various community-based
organizations, WPYP offers other activities such as college prep, SAT
tutoring, writing skills workshops, male/female responsibility, and
field trips; and

WHEREAS, In collaboration with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Zeta
Zeta Lambda Chapter, WPYP awards annual scholarships to high school
graduates and current college students; and

WHEREAS, The success of WPYP is in direct correlation to the efforts
of its Executive Director Damont Singletary, and his staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of

excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and the
community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the quality of life in their community and
have shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high
standards in their profession, certainly have earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Wesley Parrott Youth Programs, Inc. upon the occasion of its
designation for special recognition by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,
Inc., Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter on May 11, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Damont Singletary, Executive Director, Wesley Parrott
Youth Programs, Inc.
