COMMENDING League Education and Treatment Center
upon the occasion of hosting its 1st Annual Service
Awards Reception on April 30, 2019, and paying
tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend League Education and Treatment Center upon the occasion of
hosting its 1st Annual Service Awards Reception at Manhattan Penthouse
on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, and to pay tribute to this year's honorees;
and

WHEREAS, Established in 1953, League Education and Treatment Center
(LETC) is a nonprofit agency serving individuals with psychiatric and
developmental disabilities; each day, the organization serves over 500
at-risk and under-served individuals from all parts of the greater New
York City area; and

WHEREAS, With the sincere belief that everyone deserves the
opportunity to succeed in school, in program, in the community and in
life, League Education and Treatment Center aims to discover and nurture
each person's strengths and abilities; and

WHEREAS, For more than 60 years, League Education and Treatment
Center has been improving the lives of children and adults with
developmental and emotional disabilities through its extensive clinical
services, including psychiatry, psychology and social work; and

WHEREAS, In addition, this vital organization offers
speech/language, physical and occupational therapies, as well as
creative arts therapies, family support workshops and advocacy services;
and

WHEREAS, League Education and Treatment Center's clinical and
educational teams work together to provide the support and structure
needed to modify challenging behaviors and reduce psychiatric
difficulties; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, League Education and
Treatment Center has demonstrated continuous service to the residents
and communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The Annual Service Awards Reception was established to
express appreciation for the volunteers and corporations whose efforts
ensure League Education and Treatment Center successfully accomplishes
its critically important mission of healing and transformation; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy Welles, Executive Director of Morgan Stanley Prime
Brokerage, LETC Board Member and Audit Committee Chair, is the recipient
of the 2019 LETC Service Award; and

WHEREAS, Morgan Stanley Prime Brokerage is the recipient of the 2019
LETC Corporate Service Award; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to League Education and
Treatment Center; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend League Education and Treatment Center upon the occasion of
hosting its 1st Annual Service Awards Reception on April 30, 2019, and
to pay tribute to this year's honorees; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to League Education and Treatment Center, Jeremy Welles and
Morgan Stanley Prime Brokerage.
