COMMENDING Southwest Brooklyn Industrial
Development Corporation upon the occasion of hosting
its 19th Annual Sunset Swing! Gala on May 14, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation upon the
occasion of hosting Sunset Swing! on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, aboard the
Hornblower Hybrid Yacht, Brooklyn Army Terminal Pier, Sunset Park,
Brooklyn; and

WHEREAS, Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation
(SBIDC) is a local organization promoting economic development by
serving small businesses and residents of the Sunset Park, Red Hook and
Gowanus neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Since this vital organization's inception in 1978, SBIDC
has been a driving force in the improvement of the Southwest Brooklyn
economy by delivering a wide range of business services to local firms;
and

WHEREAS, Additionally, SBIDC provides Brooklyn residents with
employment services and promotes local improvements to improve the
quality of life; and

WHEREAS, The go-to organization for businesses in Southwest Brooklyn
looking to hire or need resources to grow, SBIDC hosts workshops,
assists with storm preparedness planning and recovery, and supports
business needs; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 40-year history, Southwest Brooklyn
Industrial Development Corporation has demonstrated continuous service
to the residents and communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development
Corporation is in direct correlation to the efforts of Executive
Director Ben Margolis and its dedicated staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Southwest Brooklyn
Industrial Development Corporation; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are

brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation upon the
occasion of hosting its 19th Annual Sunset Swing! Gala on May 14, 2019;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ben Margolis, Executive Director, Southwest Brooklyn
Industrial Development Corporation.
