COMMENDING William Cross upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the CAMBA
Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend William
Cross upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program to be celebrated at its 25th Anniversary
Event on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at PS 361 in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1977, CAMBA is a non-profit agency which
provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance
their quality of life; and

WHEREAS, CAMBA is a community of clients, staff, volunteers, donors,
neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York
City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and
support they need to thrive; and

WHEREAS, William Cross was one of the very first students of the
CAMBA Beacon Karate Program when it was established in 1994; today, he
truly serves as a symbol of how this vital program has helped so many
people; and

WHEREAS, Through the Program, William Cross learned to be
compassionate and empathetic towards everyone, and has truly embodied
the World Martial Arts Association's principles of Spirit, Focus, and
Power; and

WHEREAS, From September of 2012 to 2017, William Cross served as the
Beacon Karate Program Head Instructor; in this capacity, he diligently
worked to pass on the principles which were instilled in him throughout
his many years of training; and

WHEREAS, William Cross' patience and leadership skills have enabled
him to successfully work with hundreds of students in several programs
and locations over the years; his enthusiasm for the Martial Arts is
obvious, and he has strived to foster this passion into each and every
student he has taught; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend William Cross upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the CAMBA Beacon Karate Program on June 13, 2019; and be
it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William Cross.
